Our Story

A Unified Vision

Care to Cure was born out of a shared realization: while the world of medical research was making incredible strides in spinal cord injury (SCI) science, the people living with these injuries often felt left behind in the day-to-day transition from hospital to home.

Founded through a landmark collaboration between The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis and The Thomas E. Smith Foundation, we set out to create a bridge between the laboratory and the living room.

Bridging the Gap

For decades, our partners have led the charge in groundbreaking research and clinical trials. However, we recognized that "care" and "cure" are not two separate destinations—they are parts of the same journey.

We saw a need for a central resource that could translate complex medical data into practical, actionable guidance. Whether it’s navigating new mobility equipment, understanding the latest clinical updates, or finding a community that truly understands the "new normal," Care to Cure was built to be that steady hand.

Our Philosophy

We believe that knowledge is the most powerful tool for recovery and resilience. By empowering patients, caregivers, and medical professionals with the right information at the right time, we can improve quality of life today while we work toward a cure for tomorrow.

"Our mission is to ensure that no one feels like they are navigating their recovery in the dark. We bring the brightest minds in research together with the strongest voices in the SCI community."

The Path Forward

Today, Care to Cure continues to evolve, driven by the feedback of our users and the innovations of our partners. We are committed to remaining a trusted, independent source of hope and practical support for every individual affected by spinal cord injuries.

Join us as we work toward a future where paralysis is a thing of the past.
